While still offering 2D moments that make you feel like you’re right back in the Green Hill Zone. Allowing fans to enjoy scenes akin to those of Sonic Adventure. The game does an amazing job of seamlessly switching between 2D and 3D perspectives. It’s the 3D Sonic arcade title we have all been waiting for. Sega finally decided to pander to their fans, opting for a game design that provides a 3D adventure that relies on pure speed and spectacle above all else. Well, Sonic: Generations represents a turning point for the franchise. Leading to Sonic titles with approaches and concepts that just didn’t fit at all. In an attempt to compete with Nintendo, Sega seemed to lose track of what made Sonic successful in the first place. The Sonic franchise was going through something of an identity crisis for a decade leading up to this title. However, is the game an adrenaline-pumping smash hit or a gruelling slog? We find out in our review of Sonic: Generations. This is a game that aims to give the fans everything they have been asking for and more for decades. Instead opting for a blend of pure breakneck speed and retro style Sonic gameplay akin to titles like Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic Mania. Sonic Generations leaves behind the bumbling and awkward gameplay of titles like Sonic Heroes, Sonic Rivals and Sonic Unleased. However, Sonic Generations aimed to change the fortunes of the Sonic faithful, using the power of nostalgia as a driving force for the title. We need only mention Sonic The Hedgehog 2006 as an example of what kind of train wrecks the Sonic fanbase has had to endure. For years, Sonic games have consistently promised a lot to fans, only to leave them grossly disappointed. You’ll know that it’s not always an easy existence when you love the speedy hedgehog.
So this patch at least did fix that for me (Xinput emulation didn't work in the previous version). If you have been a Sonic fan throughout the last two decades or more. FWIW, I checked 'Hide DS4 Controller' in DS4Windows.
I'll try Xbox 360 controller emulation next and see if that works.ĮDIT: Xbox 360 gamepad / XInput emulation with DS4Windows now allows me to use my DS4 without mapping it to send keyboard inputs.
I tried disabling DS4Windows to see if my DS4 / PS4 gamepad would now work natively.
In other matters, this update has not fixed my DualShock 4 controller. So that is why I still care and hope that Sega removes it in the hopes it repairs the PR wound that was created so the game can once again go back to 'Overwhelmingly Positive' status and so the whole Denuvo thing can be put in the rearview mirror in the community.
I would propose removing it in a follow up patch, or at the very least giving your buyers a reasonable timetable for when it will be removed.Įven though I feel my personal case was rectified, I still would like to see this game succeed so there are more of them commissioned. You got your first day sales that supposedly got the impatient would-be infringers to buy the game who otherwise wouldn't (supposedly) if a zero day or day one 'crack' had been available. I no longer really have 'skin in the game' so to speak since I got refunded by the vendor who sold me my Sonic Mania Steam key (though since it was a third party that refunded and not Steam, I still have the game in my Steam account) but I think at this point it is undeniable that Denuvo truly has lost whatever real or imagined benefits it had once it was circumvented.
